Pressing Forward

I can't believe it's been over a month since our last post! It seems like it was just a week ago that I posted "A Better Christmas". The last month has been extremely busy! A lot has happened, so we wanted to catch everyone up!

Shortly after the last post we announced our plans to our church family at Kerrville First United Methodist Church. All 5 of us went to the front at all 5 services and I spoke at each of them... I was more nervous than I'd been in a long time! I prayed for days that God would help calm my nerves and help me find the right words to say. I tried rehearsing in front of Stephanie, but I couldn't seem to get through it without entirely losing my train of thought. I must say that I know He was with me on that Sunday morning because, even though I was extremely nervous, and my most used word was likely "um", I was able to get up there with my family and never felt like I got stuck. Things got easier each service, and by the last one I barely had to look at my notes and felt like I conveyed our genuine excitement since the nervousness had subsided a bit.

Christmas was a few days after the announcement. We got to celebrate Christmas several times over a week long period as we had family in and out all week! We aren't sure how long it'll be before we spend another Christmas with our families, so it was really great to see everyone and spend time with them!

The day after Christmas an article about our family was printed on the front page of the Kerrville Daily Times! We didn't know when the article was coming out, so we were just as surprised as everyone else! We are so thankful that God opened that door and that the Daily Times did the article as it really helped spread the word to the community. Since the article we've been told by several people that they read it and are praying for us, and that means so much to us!

On January 4th we had a bake sale in Fredericksburg. Though it was cold in the morning and super windy all day, thankfully the weather warmed up in the afternoon. We met a lot of people, and even meet a lady that has been wanting to put together a mission trip to Africa. I talked to her over the phone a couple weeks ago and she may put together a team to come to Kibogora Hospital next year!

On January 18th we had a large garage sale. We were very blessed to receive so many donations from people from our church and in our community that want to help us. I was blown away by the response we had and the items that were donated. Thank to to everyone that donated and everyone that came out to the garage sale to support us!

On the 20th Macy and Zach started their homeschooling through Northstar Academy. The week was spent completing the orientation video, downloading the necessary programs on the computer, trying to learn the Northstar system, emailing the principal and individual teachers, and helping the kids get situated. All in all, once we get it all figured out, this looks like it will be a great school for the kids as it's a Christian based school and the bible is brought into every lesson.

That leads us to yesterday (Jan. 26th)... We were invited to speak at a Sunday school class at our church. We are so thankful to Mr. & Mrs. Vogt for the invite and to everyone in the class for being so receptive and interested in our ministry.

So as we begin another week full of work, meetings, church visits, youth groups, school/computer issues, and anything else that comes up, we may be worn out, but we will not quit. Philippians 3: 13-14 says  "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus".

Thank you, Paul, for those words of motivation!
